The German Football League (DFL) has appointed content protection solutions provider Nagra as a partner in its fight against the illegal sharing of coverage of its Bundesliga matches.
The organisation will implement Nagra’s anti-piracy services and global intelligence network to track, monitor and stop illicit sharing of video and streams of first and second tier Bundesliga matches for the 2017/18 season.
The financial terms of the deal have not been released.
“Piracy today takes on many different forms, in particular with plug-and-play, Kodi add-on-based devices capable of streaming content to the big screen,” said Frédéric Guitard, vice president of anti-piracy at Nagra. “A new approach is required to fight illegal online content distribution and return viewers to the legitimate video value chain.
“We are excited to partner with DFL and provide them with the latest tools and strategies to limit the impact of piracy on their business and preserve their content investment.”
