Australian Football League (AFL) side the Brisbane Lions have confirmed an apparel deal with American sportswear brand Majestic.
The partnership, which was scheduled to begin in 2018, now starts with immediate effect. The four-year deal will cover the Lions’ playing and performance apparel, as well as the club’s replica jerseys.
According to local newspaper The Herald Sun, Majestic will be paying the Gold Coast outfit AU$1million (US$744,000) per season.
The Lions’ outgoing kit supplier, BLK, was placed into administration in November. BLK had long-term apparel deals with six other Australian rules football teams – Western Bulldogs, Richmond Tigers, Adelaide Crows, Gold Coast Suns and Greater Western Sydney Giants – and had just signed a three-year deal with St Kilda.
The Brisbane Lions have been one of the poorest performing teams in the AFL for the past three season. They finished 15th in 2014 and 17th in 2015 and 2016 in the 18-team league.
