German soccer giants Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal with online bookmaker SBOBET to become the club’s official betting partner in Asia.
The partnership will commence at the start of the 2018/19 season, which begins on 24th August, with SBOBET being promoted across Dortmund’s digital channels.
The bookmaker will offer Asia-exclusive promotions and activities, while also supporting the club’s local social initiatives. No financial terms have been disclosed in relation to the deal.
Suresh Letchmanan, head of the club‘s Singapore-based Asia office, said: “This partnership is a huge step for Borussia Dortmund to get even closer to our Asian fans. Our supporters from Asia have always sought new and exciting opportunities to engage with the club, and we believe SBOBET is the ideal partner to spread the BVB brand of football in the region.”
Bill Mummery, executive director of Celton Manx, which owns SBOBET, said: “The Bundesliga continues to rise in Asia.
“[Dortmund] have an amazing fan base, not only in Europe but all over the globe.
“We admire Dortmund’s rich history and what they have built throughout the years, establishing themselves as regular fixtures in Europe’s top competitions. And while we are delighted to have Dortmund grow with us in Asia, we are more excited for our Asian fans and what this partnership will bring them in the near future.”
