Premier League soccer side Leicester City have announced a global partnership with FansUnite Entertainment, who become the club’s first official blockchain sports data partner.
FansUnite is a blockchain-secured platform offering a sports data library for fans using the Ethereum token.
Users will be able to view statistics on the success ratios of other users in order to increase their winning percentages – a product that has proven popular among users of fantasy sports applications.
With Leicester, FansUnite will work on joint promotions in and around the King Power Stadium, while fans will also be given the opportunity to win prizes at every match.
Chief executive of FansUnite Darius Eghdami said: “Partnering with a globally recognised brand that shares our commitment to improving conditions for sports fans through the application of new technology was a natural fit.”
Jonathan Gregory, Leicester’s commercial director added: “FansUnite is an innovative brand looking to bring transparency and collaboration to their industry and we are delighted to be part of this journey.”
Champions in 2016, Leicester are currently in their fifth successive Premier League campaign.
