German soccer champions Bayern Munich have unveiled an exclusive partnership with Apple Music, the streaming service operated by the creator of the iPhone and iPad.
Under the deal, Bayern players and staff will curate exclusive playlists and generate unique content for Apple Music, including soccer-related videos and audio as well as the service’s more traditional musical offerings.
The deal is significant as the first between Apple Music and a professional sports team. Apple Music competitors such as Spotify and Deezer have signed similar deals in the past, including with Bayern's Bundesliga rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The club also announced that Beats by Dr Dre will continue as their official sound partner. The Beats range is now owned and operated by Apple.
Bayern, Bundesliga champions for the past four seasons, are once again on top of the league as it resumes following the winter break. They host struggling Schalke 04 in their next fixture.
