German soccer champions Bayern Munich have announced a three-year partnership with Canadian drinks brand OXiGEN.
The company, which specialises in oxygenated water and shot products, will serve as the Bundesliga outfit’s official functional water and recovery tool partner.
The agreement was activated during the team’s winter training camp in Doha, Qatar, where players were provided with OXiGEN’s products to aid their recovery.
The financial terms of the deal have not been made public. Bayern said that the partnership will primarily focus on the Americas, Middle East and Asia.
“We are very pleased to announce OXiGEN as our new partner, welcoming them into the Bayern Munich family,” said Jörg Wacker, Bayern Munich’s executive board member for internationalisation and strategy. “OXiGEN was created by some of the brightest minds in science and has been made available by experts with over 27 years of experience in the beverage business. This innovative brand aligns well with our club and its values.”
Blair Bentham, OXiGEN’s founder and chief executive, added: “We’ve been working diligently to find the ideal strategic partner for OXiGEN as we look to expand distribution globally.
“FC Bayern Munich is a worldwide brand whose aspirations and values align exactly with ours. It couldn’t be a better fit. Given that OXiGEN is a science-based, all-natural performance and recovery tool, it made complete sense to partner with one of the world’s top sports teams.”
Bayern are well on course to secure their sixth consecutive Bundesliga title, and will be looking to extend their 11-point lead at the top of the table when they travel to play Bayer Leverkusen on Friday.
