Spanish soccer giants Barcelona have reached a strategic agreement with Turkish real estate firm Nef that will see the company become the club’s regional partner.
The deal will run until June 2019 with the option to extend for a further year until 2020, and will increase Barcelona’s presence in Turkey as the club plan to expand around the world.
“Our agreement with Nef will help us to gain even greater recognition in a key market for FC Barcelona,” said Francesco Calvo, chief revenue officer at Barcelona. “We are sure that our association with such a relevant company as Nef will allow us to get closer to FC Barcelona’s numerous fans in Turkey.”
Erden Timur, the chief executive of Nef, added: “Football helps people from all over the world to unite. In this sense, it is one of the sports that most helps create a much-needed sense of community. At Nef, we believe in the unifying power of sport. In 2016, we became Galatasaray’s main sponsors and now, with FC Barcelona, the best supported team in the world, we want to contribute further to the unifying power of football.”
Barcelona compete in La Liga, Spanish soccer’s top flight, and play their final fixture of the season against Eibar on Sunday. Barca are three points behind league leaders Real Madrid, and will need results to go their way to retain the title they won last season.
