ATP’s Bellucci secures Embratel sponsorship
Brazilian tennis player Thomaz Bellucci has secured sponsorship from telecommunications firm Embratel.
The company, a subsidiary of Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim’s America Movil group, will sponsor the current world number 125 for the coming 2014 season.
Bellucci, who reached a career-high ranking of 21st in 2010, has three ATP World Tour singles titles to his name.
"Embratel is very happy to support tennis star Thomaz Bellucci,” said Marcello Miguel, the chief executive of Embratel. “This action reinforces sport as one of the pillars of our brand communication."
Embratel is a major backer of sport in Brazil. The company is the official telecommunications sponsor of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and supports numerous elite athletes in the country, including swimmer Cesar Cielo and judoka Sarah Menezes.
It is also providing the telecommunications infrastructure for the inaugural Rio Open, a combined men’s and women’s tennis event set to take place next February.blog comments powered by Disqus
