Aston Martin have become the new primary sponsor of German soccer club TSV 1860 Munich.
According to Bild, the 2. Bundesliga club will receive just under US$4.1 million a year for the next three years to wear the Aston Martin logo on the front of their matchday jerseys. The deal was brokered by Hasan Ismaik - who in June bought the maximum 49 per cent stake in the club permissible under German soccer regulations - and is said by the club to be its biggest since 2004.
Dr Ulrich Bez, the chief executive of Aston Martin, said: "The German Bundesliga is one of the most prestigious and most professionally managed soccer leagues worldwide. TSV 1860 Munich is an exciting partner for us."
Ismaik, who serves as chairman of the supervisory board at TSV 1860 Munich, added: "This partnership shows that Aston Martin has recognized the great potential of the club."
TSV 1860 Munich are currently sixth in the 2. Bundesliga table after winning five of their opening eight games in the 2011/12 season.
