UK supermarket chain Asda has signed on as an official tournament partner of the 2017 Uefa European Women’s Under-19 Championship.
The partnership will see Asda offer financial support to the competition, which takes place in Northern Ireland from 8th to 20th August, as well as contributing to the Irish FA's legacy programme for the tournament, which aims to increase participation in women's soccer.
Asda will also support the WU19 Uefa volunteer programme, which seeks to recruit volunteers to help in the logistical running of the tournament.
“The partnership is a fantastic way for Asda to help raise the profile of women’s football in Northern Ireland - and encourage a new generation of young girls to get active by participating in the sport,” said George Rankin, senior director at Asda NI.
“At Asda we actively promote a healthy lifestyle through our Community and CSR Programmes in Northern Ireland. Each of our 17 NI stores has a Community Champion who provides on the ground support to sports clubs throughout the year, in the local areas where our stores operate."
The 2016 edition of the Uefa European Women’s Under-19 Championship was won by France, who claimed their fourth title at U19 level.
