AS Roma score Moovit deal

Top-tier Italian soccer side AS Roma have announced a partnership with Moovit.

The transit app, which allows users to programme travel itineraries by displaying transport links in real time relative to location, will serve as the Serie A outfit’s ‘official transit partner’.

Moovit will provide specific information to Roma fans regarding the fastest and easiest ways to reach the team’s Stadio Olimpico home ground by public transport, as well as places of interest in Rome for tourists.

The app will also identify the location of AS Roma stores in the Italian capital for fans to visit.

"The partnership agreement signed with Moovit, the best app for public transport in the world, aims to ensure our fans reach the stadium efficiently, allowing them to find the best route to go to AS Roma matches in Italy and abroad, by public transport,” said Luca Danovaro, chief marketing officer at AS Roma. “This agreement, which joins the others recently activated by the club, is part of our plan that sees among its main objectives that of improving the experience of our fans on the day of the match."

"Thanks to the agreement with Moovit, AS Roma intends to move into the future of urban mobility," added Samuel Sed Piazza, country manager at Moovit. “Moovit will allow AS Roma fans to have more time to enjoy football, to know what to see when they go to the stadium and not to worry about how to get to the facility.

"From Milan to Palermo, Moovit is very popular with Italians because we help them to make the most of public transport, whether it's daily commuting or big events like football matches, where tens of thousands of people are moving in the same moment.”

AS Roma are currently third in Serie A after winning 15 of their 25 games so far in 2017/18. They beat Udinese 2-0 away on 17th February, and will travel to take on Ukranian Premier League outfit Shakhtar Donetsk in European soccer’s premier club competition, the Uefa Champions League, in the round of 16 on Wednesday.
