Top-flight English soccer side Arsenal have extended their long-running shirt sponsorship deal with Emirates for another five years.
The renewal will see the Dubai-based airline’s logo remain on the front of the Premier League outfit’s playing shirts and training kit until the end of the 2023/24 season, retaining a role it has held since 2006.
The financial terms of the agreement have not been officially released, although Arsenal say it is the largest sponsorship deal they have ever signed. According to The Telegraph, the deal is worth around UK£40 million (US$56 million) a year.
Reports in the UK over the weekend suggested that the club would now also be looking to supplement the agreement by bringing in a sleeve sponsor for the first time.
The new agreement, which applies to all of Arsenal’s teams, will also see the squad fly on Emirates’ planes for pre-season tours. The airline also holds the naming rights to the club’s 60,000-seater Emirates Stadium until 2028.
