Communications giant Arris has renewed its multi-year sponsorship with Monster Energy Nascar Cup Series team Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR).
The American company will serve as the primary sponsor of Daniel Suárez’s number 19 Toyota for 22 races across the 2017 season of the American stock-car championship. The Arris logo will be visible on the Mexican driver’s race livery and on his race overalls.
Suárez replaces the retired Carl Edwards as JGR’s lead driver this season. Arris was Edwards’ primary sponsor for 17 races last season. Suárez won the second-tier Xfinity Series championship in 2016 and in doing so became the first foreign champion of a Nascar national series.
The financial terms of the agreement have not been released but the 22-race primary sponsorship package is estimated to be worth around US$13.2 million, based on comparable contracts in Nascar.
"Our partnership with JGR and our involvement with Nascar has been instrumental in introducing the Arris brand to millions of Nascar fans,” said Ron Coppock, executive vice president of global marketing at Arris. “We had a great run with the legendary Carl Edwards, and now we're proud to continue our work with JGR by extending our race-day sponsorship to 22 events in support of Daniel Suárez's history-making trajectory.
“Daniel represents the future of racing, and we're looking forward to joining him on the podium in his first Monster Energy Nascar Cup Series season."
Suárez added: "It's a dream to be competing for the first time in the Monster Energy Nascar Cup Serieser. With the full support of Arris and JGR, I know the whole team will be able to make the most of this coming season and give us every chance of success."
The 2017 Monster Energy Nascar Cup Series begins on 28th February with the world famous Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway.
