Insurance giant Allianz has announced it has become a partner of this year's Ricoh Women's British Open.
The company will use the deal, and a personal sponsorship agreement with Spanish player Beatriz Recari, to broaden its involvement in golf.
Allianz is already a partner of the St Andrews Links course and the title sponsor of an annual PGA Champions Tour event each year in Florida. It is also a sponsor of the 2015 Solheim Cup.
Dr. Christian Deuringer, Allianz SE's head of global brand management, said: “Allianz has been a strong supporter of golf for many years. We are now taking our engagement to new places, in new directions, and pioneering innovative ways to build on the success we have achieved to date and to reach new audiences.”
He added: "We are delighted to make this announcement today, as we are sure that Beatriz Recari and the Ricoh Women’s British Open together with our other partnerships will offer us all the elements we are looking for to further develop our global golf programme."
This year's Women's British Open, which is run by IMG, will take place at St Andrews from 1st to 4th August. South Korea's Jiyai Shin is the defending champion.
