Official coatings supplier of global sailing contest’s boatyard confirmed.

AkzoNobel comes on board with the Volvo Ocean Race

AkzoNobel has entered into a strategic partnership with the Volvo Ocean Race, a triennial round-the-world team yacht race.

The Dutch multinational company has been named as the official coatings supplier to the race and it’s Volvo Ocean Race Boatyard, the race's movable maintenance facility that is available to competing boats at the end of every leg. 

Under the terms of the agreement, every Volvo Ocean 65 racing yachts will be coated with the company’s Awlgrip range of products and their keel will be protected with AkzoNobel’s International coatings. It has also developed custom colour schemes for every team.

The 2017/18 Volvo Ocean Race departs from the Spanish port of Alicante in October, it will taking in stops at Lisbon, Cape Town, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Auckland, Itajaí, Newport, Cardiff and Gothenburg, before finishing in The Hague in June 2018.
