AFL signs new title sponsor and TV deal

The Arena Football League (AFL) has signed new deals with Net10 Wireless and CBS Sports Network ahead of the upcoming AFL season.

Having previously signed a sponsorship deal in early 2012 to act as both the AFL's official wireless partner and the presenting partner of the league's Friday broadcasts, Net10’s new agreement sees the wireless service provider expand its support for the AFL in serving as league's first title sponsor.

As such, in 2013 the 14-franchise professional football league will be known as the Net10 Wireless Arena Football League.

The second agreement signed by the AFL will see CBS Sports Network carry 19 regular-season AFL games in addition to two playoff games for the next two years while ArenaBowl XXVI, the league's championship game, will air on the CBS Television Network on 17th August 2013.

According to an official press release, 'As part of the deal, CBS Sports Network will televise the league’s Saturday night game of the week in prime time.'

CBS Sports Network's coverage will kick off 23rd march 2013.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have the CBS Sports brand associated with the AFL and to have the growing CBS Sports Network as the new television home of our league,” said Arena Football League commissioner Jerry Kurz. “One of the many noteworthy aspects of this partnership is that we will have an increased ability to showcase our West Coast teams. In addition, closing the season with ArenaBowl XXVI on CBS is something that our millions of fans can look forward to with great anticipation.”

CBS Sports Network senior vice president of programming Dan Weinberg added, "We’re excited to partner with the AFL and bring this fast-paced, high-energy style of football to viewers. The AFL has an established fan base and adds to our already robust line up of football programming.”
