The Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), promoter of cycling's Tour de France, has confirmed a partnership with AEG to develop cycling in Germany.
The two will collaborate on a range of projects, centring on the launch of the new Deutschland Tour in August 2018. AEG will market media rights including possible naming rights sales for the new race, and for the Eschborn-Frankfurt classic, a one-day UCI WorldTour event whose 56th edition was held on 1st May.
AEG will also work with ASO to develop a new festival concept to bridge the gap between professional and recreational cycling.
"Our strategic partnership with AEG underscores our commitment to the German market," said ASO managing director Yann Le Moënner. "The Grand Départ of the Tour de France 2017 in Düsseldorf, the renewed partnership with the ARD for the live broadcast of the Tour de France, the inclusion of the Eschborn-Frankfurt cycling class in the family of the ASO races and the new Tour Deutschland are important milestones that contribute to the growth of cycling in Germany.
"We are looking forward to working with AEG as a strong partner to continue driving this vision."
