ABS-CBN Sports has agreed a deal with rights-holding company Triple CH to broadcast matches in the Philippines from three European elite soccer leagues.
Beginning in December, the Filipino media company will show games from England’s Premier League, Spain’s La Liga and the Uefa Champions League live on its free-to-air TV channel ABS-CBS Sports+Action.
"We're going to be showing three very big leagues, and these are all now coming to our shores on free television," said Dino Laurena, head of ABS-CBN Sports. "The English Premier League and La Liga games, and the Uefa Champions League will be shown and these are all going to be live games. Yes, the impossible has happened."
"I jumped at the opportunity," added Bernard Sumayao, chairman of Hong-Kong-based Triple CH, which acquired the broadcast rights to the three leagues from sports agency BeIN Media Group. "It's not much for business. For me, it's personal more than it is business.”
