The Ladies European Tour (LET) has announced that Ivan Khodabakhsh will become its new chief executive from January.
Khodabakhsh is currently the chief executive of World Series Boxing, the city-based franchise tournament run by boxing's world governing body AIBA.
He will succeed Alexandra Armas who will leave the role after nearly eight years in charge.
LET chairperson Karen Lunn said: “Ivan was the unanimous choice of the board from over 100 applicants for the role and we believe his vision, commercial expertise and experience in a number of sports will prove to be a huge asset as we look to further enhance the opportunities for our playing members."
Khodabakhsh, who was the subject of a BBC Panorama investigation into alleged secret payments received by AIBA during his time at World Series Boxing, added: “I am really thrilled to be appointed and excited by the challenge of growing the tour in a number of areas that will benefit the players, sponsors and engage fans of women’s golf.
"There is huge potential for growth in women’s golf, especially considering the inclusion of the sport in the Olympic programme.”
