Jimmy Qin, formerly senior sports marketing director for sports apparel brand Li Ning, has joined Octagon Greater China as vice president.

Qin joins Octagon, the world’s largest sports and entertainment sponsorship consultancy, having worked on sponsorship assets including the Olympic Games, the Fifa World Cup, the NBA and Formula One during spells with Coca-Cola, Nike and, most recently, Li Ning.

On his new appointment, Qin said, “I’m very excited to become a part of Octagon. I have admired the agency’s research-led approach to sponsorship consulting and I believe my background will enhance the agency’s strong marketplace offering.”

“We are extraordinarily pleased to have Jimmy join our team,” said Octagon Greater China managing director Ryan Sandilands. “He brings to us his deep insights into China’s sports marketing landscape as well as solid, long-term relationships with sports federations, the Central China Sports Administration and key global partners including the NBA, IOC, Fifa and Formula One.

“His solid track record  across a portfolio of leading global marketers demonstrates a ‘best-in-class’ capability in operating in China’s developing and complex sports marketing ecosystem that will only enhance our leadership position in the market,” Sandilands added.
