Formula One elevates media rights and hospitality heads

Formula One’s new owners Liberty Media have promoted two key Bernie Ecclestone-era executives as they continue to reshape the series’ management team.

Ian Holmes, Formula One Management’s head of media rights since 2001, has been elevated to the role of global director of media rights, while Kate Beavan becomes global director of hospitality, experiences and packages.

Holmes will be tasked with overseeing Formula One’s audio-visual rights portfolio across all platforms, as well as managing auxiliary content such as archive footage and the rights to the F2 series, GP3 and Porsche Supercup support series.

“The content and assets that we have available have not previously been exploited to their full potential and I am personally looking forward to changing that,” said Holmes.

Beavan, meanwhile, will work to develop Formula One’s hospitality programme, including the VIP ‘Paddock Club’ experience.

“The confirmation of Ian and Kate in these important commercial roles further strengthens our commitment to growing the Formula One business, broadening its appeal to a much wider pool of broadcast partners and sponsors,” said Sean Bratches, the newly installed managing director of commercial operations at Formula One.

“As we take the sport forward, both figures will be integral to us achieving our objectives. They bring a great level of experience and insight to the sport and we think they will help to enhance our content and hospitality offering.”
