04 February 2010 | By Adam Fraser

Sergei Fusenko, the former president of Zenit St. Petersburg, has been elected president of the Russian Football Union after defeating businessman Alisher Aminov in a vote.
Fusenko, who has also worked for Gazprom, quickly vowed that Russia's bid to host the 2018 Fifa World Cup would end in success, while stressing that the development of Russian soccer would be his priority.
The 55-year-old replaces outgoing president Vitaly Mutko.
