US Ski & Snowboard has named Dan Barnett as its first chief commercial officer.
The experienced marketing and commercial executive is set to join the national governing body from the America’s Cup Event Authority and Oracle Team USA, where he is currently performing the same role.
Barnett, who previously served as a commercial and marketing lawyer for European soccer body Uefa, will be tasked with growing commercial revenues at US Ski & Snowboard whilst developing its brand.
"We have an opportunity at US Ski & Snowboard to dramatically enhance our brand and the revenue needed to drive our athletic programmes," said Tiger Shaw, the organisation’s president and chief executive.
"Dan Barnett brings a fascinating array of global experience in brand development, commercial sales and both broadcast and digital media. It's timely for him to join our team and help raise the profile of our organisation.”
A US Ski & Snowboard statement said Barnett has been appointed after ‘a five-month global search’, and that he is expected to assume his new position in time for the Park City, Utah-based body’s pre-Olympic Partner Summit, which starts on 21st June.

“By building on this core strength and strategically developing our own content distribution platforms, I believe we can dramatically increase our fan engagement and create commercial opportunities for our global partners that are second-to-none in the sports industry.”
