Former R&A chief executive Peter Dawson has been hired as a consultant to Dubai's growing golf industry.
The appointment, made by Dubai's strategic advisory company Falcon and Associates, will see Dawson combine his duties as president of the International Golf Federation with a role guiding the growth of golf in Dubai.
The move follows the recent publication of a Deloitte report which highlighted golf as a key contributor to Dubai's sports economy.
Dawson stepped down from his positions as chief executive of the R&A and secretary of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews in September, after 16 years leading the body which organises The Open and governs the sport worldwide in conjunction with the United States Golf Association (USGA).
He will work with stakeholders across golf in Dubai over the coming months with the aim of preparing a series of recommendations to the Dubai government.
