European Athletics has appointed Julien Mauriat as the new chief executive of its marketing subsidiary, European Athletics Marketing.
Mauriat, who was most recently the general director of the French Athletics Federation (FFA), took up his new position on 1st January.
His responsibilities will include defining, developing and commercialising European Athletics’ commercial strategy across the governing body’s portfolio of activities, including its events, corporate programmes, and communications and development projects.
His first task will be to present a 2018-2022 commercial strategy and business plan to the European Athletics Marketing board of directors, which will then go before the organisation's council in April.
Svein Arne Hansen, president of European Athletics, said: “We are very pleased that we have Julien Mauriat on board as the chief executive of European Athletics Marketing to create additional values and revenues from our events and activities.
“He has a clear remit to maximise our commercial revenues and increase the visibility and market attractiveness of European Athletics by associating with top international commercial partners, securing long-term partnerships with prestigious companies and brands and developing creative commercial opportunities to generate new and unique revenue streams for our federation.”
