John Lee has become the new chief executive of Australian Sailing.
Lee, a former chief executive of National Rugby League (NRL) clubs Sydney Roosters and South Sydney, will replace Matt Carroll, who stepped down in April to take become chief executive of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC). He will be expected to build on the country's efforts at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where Australian sailors won three silvers and a gold.
“This is a great opportunity and I’m looking forward to working with the clubs, classes and state associations," said Lee. "There has been great work done by [Australian Sailing president] Matt Allen and all involved on delivering the One Sailing reforms, a new national structure in place and strong working relationships with the state associations and clubs, which together we’ll build on."
