Jean-Christophe Rolland re-elected as Fisa president

The International Rowing Federation (FISA), the governing body for world rowing, has announced the re-election of Jean-Christophe Rolland as its president.

The Frenchman, who had been elected to the post in September 2013 after defeating the Australian John Boultbee and Canadian Tricia Smith, was unanimously re-elected for a further four years.

Rolland assumed the presidency in July 2014 after the departure of Denis Oswald, who had held the position since 1989.

Smith was re-elected to her role as vice-president.

The news comes after the conclusion of the 2017 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida, on Sunday.

Fisa also announced that Slovenian town Bled will host the Rowing World Championships in 2020.  Shanghai was awarded the 2021 World Championships, making it the first Chinese city to host the event.

Additionally, Tokyo was awarded the 2019 World Junior Championships, the 2019 World Rowing Coastal Championships went to Hong Kong, and Linz-Ottensheim in Austria claimed the 2020 World Rowing Masters Regatta.
