Top-tier Italian soccer side Inter Milan have appointed Luca Danovaro as their new chief marketing officer.
Danovaro will take up his new position with the Serie A outfit at the beginning of July and will be responsible for brand development strategies as well as operations spanning fan engagement, customer relationship management, business and digital marketing, and event organisation.
Inter said in a press release that Danovaro will aim to ‘continue to build on the progress made last season, which saw the club record several significant achievements.’
The 43-year-old joins Inter from fellow Serie A club AS Roma, where he served as chief marketing officer for one year.
Danovaro has also worked with brands such as manufacturer Moleskine, electronics giant Samsung and sportswear brand Nike during his career.
“I’m looking forward to working with the team and using my experience to serve the club, with the aim of continuing to enhance the Inter brand around the world by using innovation and technology to enrich the fan experience,” said Danovaro.
“I have no doubt that his professionalism and proven managerial expertise will be of huge benefit to our club,” added Alessandro Antonello, chief executive at Inter. “Luca will help to forge an even closer bond with the millions of Nerazzurri fans that follow the team from all over the globe. Together, we will continue to strive to take Inter to the top of world football.”
Inter finished fourth in Serie A in 2016/17, securing a place in European soccer’s premier club competition, the Uefa Champions League, for the first time in seven seasons.
