Global sports broadcaster Eleven Sports has named Giuliano Giorgetti as its new managing director for Italy.

Giorgetti, who begins his role immediately, will be responsible for further expanding the company’s growth in Italy, including increasing revenues, developing strategic partnerships, and overseeing the day to day operations.

Giuliano brings a wealth of experience after spending 17 years in the soccer industry working for Italian soccer rivals AC Milan and Inter Milan. Giuliano will also act as head of digital and commercial partnerships at global investment company and Eleven’s parent company, Aser.

Group managing director at Eleven, Danny Menken, said: “Since we entered the Italian market following our acquisition of Sportube last year, we have made great strides with our rights acquisitions, distribution and popularity amongst the fans. Giuliano’s knowledge and experience of the Italian sports media industry makes him the perfect person to lead our team in Italy as we look to continue our progression.”

Australian public broadcasting television network SBS managing director Michael Ebeid has announced that he will step down from the role later this year, describing his decision as “one of the most difficult” he has ever made.

Andrea Williams has been appointed the College Football Playoff (CFP) series’ chief operating officer. Williams comes to the CFP from the Big Sky Conference, where she has been commissioner for two years after 16 years on the staff at the Big Ten Conference.

Chris Renner has been appointed chief executive of World TeamTennis (WTT), the US city-based franchise tennis league co-founded in 1974 by Billie Jean King. Renner joins from sports marketing and consultancy firm Helios Partners, where he served in the same position.

Ralph Rimmer has been named as the Rugby Football League’s (RFL) new chief executive on a permanent basis. Rimmer had been serving as interim chief executive of the rugby league governing body since January, when Nigel Wood stepped down from his position to head up the Rugby League International Federation (RLIF).

rEvolution has selected Dave Mullins as its new senior vice president of client development. Mullins spent the past 12 years at GMR Marketing, delivering solutions to new and existing top-tier brands, including Visa, Esurance and Intel.

Antonio Martín Espina has been appointed the new president of the Association of Basketball Clubs (ACB) after being unanimously elected. A former pro, Martin was director of operations of the Real Madrid basketball team and in 2010 acted as an adviser to the ACB on the signing of its first television contract.
