Hugo Lavell has been appointed head of media and distribution at Formula E Holdings, the organiser of the all-electric motor racing series, ending a 16-month search to fill the position.
Lavell will oversee the broadcast and digital content distribution strategy for the championship across all media, and will also be responsible for ensuring global coverage of the series and maximising revenue.
He joins from the Infront Sports marketing agency, where he held the position of manager of media sales for summer sports. His responsibilities included overseeing the agency’s endurance and active lifestyle media rights portfolio, as well as working on commercial rights acquisition strategies and tender processes in soccer and motorsport.
Prior to joining Infront three years ago, Lavell was a broadcast sales manager at the English Football League (EFL).
Lavell succeeds Tim Godfrey, who resigned from his position as head of media at Formula E near the end of 2016 to join ITN Productions, a UK-based news and content provider.
At that time, rights distribution duties at Formula E were handled by Godfrey and Ali Russell, director of media, marketing and communications.
Formula E returns for its sixth round of the 2017/18 season on 17th March, when the series heads to Uruguay for the Punta del Este ePrix.
