The Ubiquity Group marketing agency has announced that Ian Ayre has become its new executive chairman.
According to Ubiquity, Ayre’s investment in the company represents his single biggest personal investment to date. His role as executive chairman will be primarily focused on developing brands and creating marketing and commercial solutions.
Ayre is best known for a spell as chief executive at English Premier League soccer side Liverpool. He stepped down from the role at the end of May 2017.
The 54-year-old has also been chief executive of several other brands and a rights holder, while he also ran a major digital media organisation and has worked with many broadcasters globally.
“In sports I have worked closely with many sponsors and commercial partners and understood the value of good partnerships and how to extract a return on investment for all parties,” said Ayre. “I’ve also been close to the meteoric rise of digital and social media and understand both its power and the importance of it being well managed.
“Having worked on both sides of the market, I intend to use my role at Ubiquity to help organisations fulfil their full potential by providing a platform for brands, businesses and individuals to ensure they get value from their marketing investments at all levels.”
