The European Handball Federation (EHF) has confirmed the appointment of David Szlezak as the managing director of its marketing arm, EHF Marketing GmbH.
Szlezak has been working in the role on an interim basis since February 2016, having previously been manager and assistant managing director of the team behind the season-ending Velux EHF Final4 event. EHF president Jean Brihault and secretary general Michael Wiederer were cleared by the body's executive committee to begin negotiations about a permanent contract with Szelzak, a former Austrian international player, in June.
Katharina Hacker has also joined EHF Marketing in a business development role, while Anna Farbowski has also joined the team to work on the Velux EHF Champions League ‘Match of the Week’ concept.
"We’ve already achieved a great deal in the Champions League, and have an experienced team of people in Vienna, who know and understand the competition and our partners very well," said Szlesak.
“I see it as my task to continue to build on this success and the relationships we have developed with our long-standing partners, while at the same time driving innovation and new ideas to ensure we stay ahead on the international sports market.”
