The National Football League’s (NFL) Carolina Panthers have named City Football Group (CFG) chief commercial and operating officer Tom Glick as their new team president.
Glick, who will oversee the Panthers day-to-day operations, has been appointed by David Tepper, who purchased the franchise earlier this year and is assembling his leadership team ahead of the new season.
“We are thrilled to have Tom join the Panthers family,” said Tepper. “He has tremendous experience in professional sports, successfully fostering fan engagement in major cities globally. I know that his record, expertise and drive will be major assets as we look to win on the field and in the community.”
Glick joined CFG, whose portfolio of soccer clubs includes Premier League champions Manchester City, as chief operating officer in March 2012 after serving the same role at second-tier English outfit Derby County.
“I am honoured to join the Panthers,” Glick added. “David has a clear and exciting vision for the team, and I can see and feel the buzz and anticipation for this new era of Panthers football. I’m ready to get started and will give everything to help the team deliver for our fans, players, staff, partners and our communities throughout North and South Carolina.”
Glick also has prior experience in US sports, serving as the chief marketing officer for the then New Jersey Nets, while he also had a spell as vice president of marketing and business operations for the National Basketball Association (NBA).
