Australian Football League (AFL) side the Western Bulldogs have appointed their fourth chief executive in three years, with Ameet Bains taking the reins at the club.
Bains will join from the Bulldogs' league rivals St Kilda, where he has been serving as chief operating officer since 2014. He is expected to finalise the switch in December after completing his duties with the Melbourne-based club.
Describing himself as “honoured and humbled” to join the the Bulldogs, Bains added that the club is "well-positioned given its recent premiership success and accompanying commercial growth."
Bulldogs president Peter Gordon said that Bains is "ideally suited to our club’s next stage of development, with his mix of legal, commercial, projects and football expertise.”
The Bulldogs finished tenth in the 2017 AFL ladder, failing to qualify for the finals. The 2018 season gets underway next March.
