US soccer’s poster boy on European radars
Representatives: Mark Pulisic
Key partners: Nike, Panini, Hershey’s, Gatorade
Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Chelsea: those are just a selection of Europe’s storied teams who are rumoured to be dangling the carrot in front of Christian Pulisic, arguably the greatest thing to happen to US men’s soccer since David Beckham rocked up in LA. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder might stay with his parent club for another season yet, but the teenager remains destined for bigger things.
Wherever Pulisic ends up, his new team won’t only be getting one of the most promising teenage talents in world soccer, but also a marketing machine who beckons from a region that has long cried out for a player to become a genuine force within the game. Born in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the 19-year-old’s inevitable deal with America’s favourite chocolate brand came earlier this year, while he also added Gatorade to an endorsement portfolio that already includes Nike and Panini.
With North America now confirmed as the host of the 2026 Fifa World Cup, Pulisic’s value to brands will only skyrocket as that tournament draws closer. Where Pulisic will be playing his soccer at that point is anyone’s guess, but it already feels safe to say that the US now has a player capable of handling the hype. SC
