Gloucestershire County Cricket Club have agreed a one-year sponsorship extension with law firm Clarke Willmott LLP.
Kevin is a specialist employment and human resources solicitor and heads up the Clarke Willmott sports sector team. Kevin regularly advised numerous professional sport clubs on employment law and HR related issues. In particular Kevin advises and works with a number of professional football, rugby and cricket clubs. Kevin takes a particular interest in advising professional sports clubs on managers' and coaches' contracts as well as appropriate exit arrangements. Kevin is recognised by Chambers as an employment law expert.
Tim is an experienced sports, leisure and media lawyer. He advises on a wide range of commercial transactions and matters, including rights management, licensing, sponsorship, merchandising, marketing, provision of a variety of services and digital media (including social media). Tim has also advised on the organisation and hosting of national and international events and previously managed a team of lawyers in-house advising on issues including ticketing, hospitality, logistics, sales and marketing. He has been legal adviser to and operating board member of a company holding commercial rights in respect of the previous two Rugby World Cup tournaments.
Simon heads Clarke Willmott's corporate and commercial team. As such Simon has a wide range of experience in advising on mergers and acquisitions, company disposals, venture capital and private company fund raising. Simon has worked with and advised numerous sport sector organisations in relation to corporate related activities, including advising on a takeover of a Premier League football club, the sale of a Championship rugby club and the corporate structure of a first class county cricket club as well as a number of fund raisings for professional football, rugby and cricket clubs.
Roy jointly heads up the Clarke Willmott national intellectual property team and is based in our Manchester office. Roy has extensive experience of operating in the sports sector and has worked with a number of leading premiership football clubs as well as a number of internationally recognised sports brand in protecting and exploiting their intellectual property rights. Areas that Roy and his team take a particular interest in includes advising on intellectual property disputes involving breach of confidence and privacy actions, advice on the registration of intellectual property including undertaking IP audits, trade mark portfolio management, advice in relation to endorsement/sponsorship agreements and other commercial agreements involving intellectual property. In addition Roy is experienced in advising on agreements with the media.
Owen heads up the Clarke Willmott sport litigation team. Owen has acted in a number of disputes in the sports sector, acting for both professional sports team and sportsmen. Owen takes a particular interest in rugby and motorsport.
Clarke Willmott LLP represented Dutch professional footballer Marcel Seip sued Blackpool Football Club when a promotion bonus was denied to him, after the club’s promotion to the Premier League at the end of the 2009/2010 season.
