The Washington Redskins NFL franchise has signed a lucrative partnership with the state lottery.
The franchise, one of the most valuable in any sport, has taken advantage of the league's decision to allow its teams to enter into agreements with their state lotteries. The measure is intended to help the teams at a difficult financial time.
"We envision a game that will link lottery fans with the Redskins in new and exciting ways," said Redskins chief operating officer Mitch Gershman.
Though exact profits will depend on the popularity of the games launched, the partnerships are intended to raise US$1 million or more for each of the franchises. Reports in New York indicate that both the New York Jets and New York Giants are close to announcing similar deals.
