Tyre company to back Sri Lankan cricket awards

Tyre manufacturer CEAT has been confirmed as the title sponsor of the inaugural Sri Lankan Cricket Awards, which will be held on 30th October. The awards ceremony, which was announced at the same time by Sri Lanka Cricket, the governing body of the sport in the country, will recognise the achievements of international and local cricketers. Over 100 awards will be handed out.
CEAT has agreed to take naming rights for the event for the next three years. Duleep Mendi, chief executive of Sri Lanka Cricket, said: "With the global economy in dire straits and with the corporate sector not doing well, we are grateful to CEAT for coming forward to sponsor this event and we hope this will be a long term association."
Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara added: "The launch of an awards scheme like this is momentous and much needed for Sri Lanka cricket. With the kind endorsement and sponsorship of CEAT, we have finally recognised the need for a continuous and prestigious ceremony."
