Contract summary

Length of contract: 20 years
Annualised value: US$750,000
Overall value: US$15 million

TD Ameritrade will pay an estimated US$15 million over the next 20 years for the naming rights to the 24,000-capacity stadium that will host the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

TD Ameritrade Park is set to open in 2011. The online broker opted against the additional US$10 million annual fee needed to secure a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) corporate partner package, but was keen to push through the deal for the stadium, the building of which will keep the College World Series in Omaha, where it has been held since 1950.

"The College World Series is big already and has great potential to grow," said Bill Gerber, TD Ameritrade executive vice president. "Hopefully those collegiate ties link us to customers, and as they graduate and start making money, they have to invest. I would still tell you this isn't about generating a lot of new accounts, as much as it is recognition of our headquarters community, and because it is the right thing to do as a local corporate citizen."
