SuperSport secures Premier League for three more years
Contract summary
Length of contract: 3 yearsAnnualised value: US$100 million
Overall value: US$300 million
SuperSport, the dominant sports broadcaster in sub-Saharan Africa, has secured the rights to broadcast the Premier League in the region for the next three years.
The deal represents another large financial boost for the league, and particularly its top clubs. Last year, Manchester United and Liverpool topped the list of earnings from the league's television revenues, with the Premier League champions collecting UK£51.5 million. Liverpool also broke the UK£50 million mark, albeit narrowly, collecting UK£50.1 million.
The 20 Premier League clubs collected a total of UK£790 million, with UK£70 million of parachute payments made to clubs relegated into the Championship and a further UK£136 million distributed throughout the game. Those amounts will increase again from next season as the next period of rights begins - particularly given the large increase in international rights prices.

"We are thrilled to extend our partnership," said SuperSport chief executive Imitiaz Patel. "This ensures we continue to bring the very best of world football to our viewers, who have a great appetite for the Premier League."
