Haydock Park, one of the UK's most famous racecourses, is investing US$4 million in its track redevelopment project, which will see its newly created Flat Track used for the Group 1 Betfred Sprint Cup this weekend.
"The new sprint flat course has been successfully tested on a couple of racedays and received favourable reviews from jockeys and trainers," said Kirkland Tellwright, Clerk of the Course. "The development of this new Flat Track gives us flexibility and this year's Betfred Sprint Cup will be run on fresh ground on a free-draining track."
The course is one of two new Flat Tracks built as part of the investment. The Betfred Sprint Cup carries a prize fund of more than US$485,000.
