Social networking site Facebook is partnering with Sport England to deliver an in-kind partnership with a value of more than US$30 million.
Facebook will provide an estimated US$7.9 million of annual support to Sport England's quest to encourage one million more English people to take up regular sport around the London Olympic Games in 2012. Facebook's 'Sport Hub' will allow the 46 national governing bodies that work with Sport England to engage with its millions of users.
Sport England is piloting the scheme through British Universities & Colleges Sport and six sports, and hopes to get 12,000 more students participating in sport in the next four months.
