Speedo makes a splash with British Swimming

Swimwear company Speedo has signed a seven-year extension to its sponsorship deal with British Swimming. By the time the deal expires in 2016, it will have run for 11 years, British Swimming's longest association with a sponsor, and will take in the London Olympic Games in 2012 and the 2016 Olympic Games.
As well as a cash contribution toUS the grassroots of the sport, which will see Speedo continue its involvement with the National Teaching Plan for Swimming and the Kellogg's ASA Award Scheme, the British company will provide swimwear, equipment and apparel to the national swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming teams.
Speedo, which also sponsors record-breaking Olympian Michael Phelps, has a personal endorsement deal worth nearly US$1 million in place with Rebecca Adlington, the British teenager who won two gold medals at the Olympic Games in Beijing. Commenting on the announcement David Sparkes, chief executive of British Swimming said: "We are very pleased to be continuing our relationship with Speedo. It is crucial to the future of swimming that British Swimming associates itself with a brand which is so devoted to the sport and to its athletes."
David Robinson, president of Speedo International, added: "We have been working with grassroots swimming for over 80 years across many countries. British Swimming is one of the most professional sports organisations in the world and, together, we aim to nurture and develop the future stars of tomorrow."
