Sony Electronics will install more than 550 flat-panel 'BRAVIA' and professional LCD HD television sets throughout the new Yankee Stadium, which opens in April.
The stadium, home of the New York Yankees, will have a capacity of more than 50,000 and is the second-most expensive stadium ever built; only Wembley in London, UK has cost more than the estimated US$1.6 billion bill.
As well as the screens, Sony PlayStation 3 entertainment systems and notebook computers will be available for use by fans in a variety of locations around the stadium.
"The new home of the world's most renowned sports franchise - with its storied history of leadership and excellence - is the perfect place to showcase all that is Sony," said Sir Howard Stringer, chairman and chief executive officer of Sony Corporation.
"It is thrilling for Sony to be playing a part in this new chapter in Yankee history."
Sony will present the Yankees highlights package and will run a 30-second pre-match advert on the stadium’s big screen.
