QBE Insurance, part of Australia's largest international insurance group, has signed on as a gold-level commercial partner of the 2011 Sailing World Championships in Perth.

The qualifying event in 2011 will see the world's best sailors compete with hopes of racing in the 2012 Olympic Games.

Perth 2011 director of commercial operations, Darren Beazley, said: “Due to the complex and diverse risks associated with an Olympic qualifying event, it made sense to partner with one of the most experienced insurance companies in the country.

The Sailing World Championships will be held between December 3 and 18, 2011.
