Rogers lands media rights for Champions League

Canadian broadcaster Rogers Sportsnet has secured the Canadian media rights for the Uefa Champions League from 2009 to 2012.

Rogers will broadcast extensive live coverage of the competition, the most popular international club tournament in the world. It will also show matches on a delayed basis and a weekly magazine programme. Meanwhile, Setanta Sports will broadcast those matches Rogers does not choose to show, as well as a number of delayed games.

"Uefa is extremely happy to confirm this new rights deal for the Uefa Champions League," said a statement from Uefa. "Rogers Sportsnet and Setanta Sports will ensure great exposure for the competition in Canada over the next three seasons, and Uefa is looking forward to developing the relationship during this time."
