England’s Rugby Football League has announced that Gillette Fusion, a prominent supporter of rugby league in Great Britain, will sponsor the 2010 World Club Challenge, the match that pits the best English club team against the best Australian team. The 2010 match will take place on Sunday 28th February at Elland Road in Leeds between Super League champions Leeds Rhinos and Australian champions Melbourne Storm.
The RFL’s commercial director Paul Kimberley said he was “delighted with the news” and added: “We look forward to working with them on an event which has become one of the highlights of the sporting calendar. The last few seasons have produced some hugely entertaining contests and we fully expect this year’s Gillette World Club Challenge to be just as exciting.”
Nathan Homer, business leader of Gillette UK and Ireland, added: “Gillette is proud to strengthen its association with Rugby League and we are looking forward to building on the success our sponsorship of the England team.”
Gillette was also the title sponsor of the recent Four Nations international series in England, which pitted the hosts against New Zealand, Australia and France.
