PGE takes naming rights to Euro 2012 stadium

The Baltic Arena, currently under construction in Gdansk in advance of Euro 2012, will be known as the PGE Arena Gdansk after a five-year naming-rights deal was agreed for a double-digit million dollar fee.
Polska Grupa Energetyczna will pay US$12.25 million over the four years between January 2010 and December 2014, taking in European soccer's flagship international tournament in 2012. The 44,000 capacity stadium, expected to be completed next year, has cost some US$220 million to build.
The new title sponsor will have the right to use the stadium's image in advertising and to use the facility itself for events. It will also take naming rights to the largest of the stadium's VIP lounges.
PGE beat Grupa Lotos, TP and Bank Pekao in the sealed-envelope auction for the rights.
December saw authorities admit that construction of another of the Polish venues for Euro 2012, which will be co-hosted by Ukraine, has fallen several months behind schedule. Sports Minister Adam Giersz admitted the stadium in Wroclaw will nt meet its June 2011 completion date.
