Nike racing ahead of the competition with Genk
Length of contract: 5 years | Annualised value: US$400,000 | Overall value: US$2m
Nike has added another soccer club to its roster by securing an arrangement with Racing Genk, the Belgian club which has won two league titles and two national cups in the last ten years.
The five-year deal sees Nike replace French company Airness. Racing Genk were the sole non-French club for which Airness manufactured kits.
As well as kit supply, the club's Cristal Arena will host a round of the Nike Premier Cup in May 2009. The pre-season tournament routinely features the youth teams of the globe's biggest clubs. Recent winners have included Spanish giants Barcelona and Brazil's Fluminense.
Belgian press reports value the deal as worth US$400,000 per year.
Nike manufacture kits for a large percentage of Europe's top clubs, including European champions Manchester United.
