NFL extends partnership with CTV in Canada

The National Football League has signed a four-year, multi-million dollar extension of its contract with CTV, the Canadian broadcaster, in a deal including the rights to the Super Bowl.

CTV will carry the NFL regular season Sunday early afternoon game package, all NFl playoff games and the Super Bowl for the next four years. Financial terms were not disclosed but, according to Canadian press reports, CTV was paying almost US$15 million per year for its previous agreement with the NFL.

"The National Football League's broadcast package has been a perfect fit on the CTV schedule for the past three years and we are thrilled to be able to extend our partnership with a brand that defines excellence," said Rick Brace, president, revenue, business planning and sports, CTV Inc.

"The Super Bowl is one of those rare television events that transcends sports and popular culture. We are looking forward to bringing fans and advertisers the best of the NFL for the next four years."
